Since the usual products to soothe nipple pain use lubricating ingredients that aren't compatible with using our silicone flanges to keep elastic nipple tissue from stretching, we recommend:

  • Cold gel pads
  • Tapping (not rubbing) a tiny amount of 1% hydrocortisone cream (not ointment) on the painful area

If you have broken skin, it will help prevent infection to wash your nipples twice a day with mild non-moisturizing soap (not antibacterial) and warm water (over the kitchen sink if you have a sprayer works well). If the wound isn't healing within three days, reach out to our inhouse Lactation Consultant for guidance.
