In any flange type or brand, most nipples will swell to fill the available space, eventually touching the sides of the tunnel.  Rubbing is when the nipple moves in the tunnel causing friction.

In our hard-plastic flanges, your nipples can be protected from friction by applying a food-grade lubricant like coconut oil or olive oil to them before pumping.  Both coconut and olive oils are inexpensive and can be found in most grocery store baking or salad aisles.  Coconut oil is also slightly antibiotic.
