As noted previously, the job of the silicone is not to be soft or more comfortable, it was specifically designed to be tacky enough to grab on and hold on to you and not let you get pulled into the tunnel. If you are using a lubricant before or during pumping, it can completely defeat the purpose of the silicone. Lubricant can stay in your pores for up to 24 hours. It is very important to remove the residual with something like witch hazel and clean the flanges with Dawn dish soap. Using any natural types of detergents like Dapple or Myers etc. will leave a film on the flanges that also removes the sticky nature of the silicone, the silicone won’t be able to grip on and you will get pulled in the same way as with using lube.
Hey, we know this seems like a small deal but using the grippy nature of silicone to hold on to you and keep you from getting pulled in can completely change the effectiveness of your pump efforts and give you the comfort you were hoping for.
